easter weekend! boring text!

Tuesday, March 29, 2016

No pictures, no video, no nothing! Last week was exceptionally busy, and by the time Saturday rolled around I was simply ready to be with family and focus on their company rather than how exhausted I was!

For the first time in years (years!) we didn't have the littles for Easter. What insanity! Fortunately for us, we have loads of family outside of our youngest dumplings - R, Meghan and I got together with Juju, Tonya, Stephen, Krystall, Darrah, Cody, Ryan, Kirsten and Luciana - phew!

We went to the hill, crammed around our once-big dining room table and ate hamburgers + loads of veggies, then the girls sat on the porch while the boys played baseball. It was so sweet and chill and wonderful. Meghan, Krystall and I even stopped by Sweet Firefly for ice-cream after getting home (lavender honey ice-cream! whut!).

On Sunday, Richard and I vowed to do NOTHING, given the upcoming weeks of packing ahead (moving is awesome?!), and it was a slam-dunk. We slept in, rented a million movies, ordered take-out twice and kept the doors and windows open almost all day. Our house is a mess and there's alot coming around the corner, but we managed to just sit and relax for 12 whole hours with just the two of us. It. Was. Awesome.

So, family + good food + chill time + beautiful weather... we killed it this Easter weekend. :)

sisters, sadie, sports and socials

Sunday, March 20, 2016

Meghan, who got Sadie a fresh pair of rain boots for her birthday, took she, S and E creekin' on Sadie's actual birthday. Sisters!

Obligatory birthday dress (thanks, TARGET) and birthday flowers for Sadie's actual birthday. Sadie!

How I get dressed for Sadie's first volleyball game - it was a double-header, so I went all out. Her team lost both games, but Sadie was THE BOMB. She's getting so good! Plus, Emily tagged alot with us (while Meghan and R3 stayed home) and it was alot of fun hanging out with her on the bleachers. Sports!

Dragging ourselves to Nancy and Nery's house for a little get-together before we go MIA for a few weeks moving, dealing, life-ing. I'm so glad we did, because there was Nancy + Johnnie Walker + Athos the puppy. Socials!

I'm so trying to deal with life lately. But at least I'm staying on top of blogging! (:

birthday party for tonya & sadie!

Strawberry cake + rainbow icing & blackberry cheesecake :) (a la Meghan)

 Homemade tortillas!

Sadie, recovering from her first "kitchen burn" - helping making the homemade tortillas. ;)

Dana, the love of my life.

It was the first sunny day in almost a week (thanks, Spring Break!) and it felt WONDERFUL.

Poppa & Momma Nelson we're even in town!

R, Juju and I were all in attendance, too. ;) Dana did me the favor of sending me a few videos she took, too long for YouTube!

emily's valentine's date w/ daddy, etc.

Emily's Valentine's Day daddy date + Cindy time + Spring Break play + Elle!

A good start to Spring Break week: Being friends! Watching YouTube! Sunshine! (There was way too much rain this Spring Break!)

Emily's date included Spin Pizza and ice-skating for the first time. :)

LOOK AT THAT SMILE!

And then Cindy came over! It had been way too long. So long, they got 3 nights together. Yay! :)

Playing at the rainbow park. :)

And III got to see Miss Elle! Who was such a dear to give me this amazing print of one of her pieces. What a bae! <3

birthdays galore!

Sunday, February 28, 2016

Alright, get ready for a doozy of a post. We got 3 (3!) birthdays, a Carly Rae Jepsen concert, father/daughter date and a Repticon event comin' at ya. All from ONE weekend! (EH, why break it up into smaller posts? ;))

First, Carly Rae! I've been so in love with her E*MO*TION album that I convinced Richard to go with me to her shoe at House of Blues. It was sooo fun! She's a great live singer - it was like one big sing-a-long! We even met up with friends John and Travis and got ourselves a VIP table (because general admission is for suckers... and youngins not like myself). It was simply marvy!

Me & John :D

While we were out, Meghan took the kids out to Mooya and sent us a few snaps (including a very blurry one of R3 - that kid moves around alot!).

(Not pictured - our Uber driver getting hit by a drunk driver and nearly run the hell over on our way back home afterwards! We had to help him file a police report! It was nutzo!)

For Valentine's Day this year, Richard decided to get all the kittens a "daddy date" of varying degrees. Sadie was up first, and they went for pedicures! Apparently they were quite the spectacle at the salon - but I wouldn't expect anything less. ;P

When Sadie came back, I took her to our first of our THREE birthday soirees - Miss Kennedy Bayer's first birthday party! (I asked the other littles to come with me and they were thoroughly not interested... screens > babies... but not for Sadie!)

The party was donut-themed, and Janine had it DOWN. Donuts everywhere! (Including adorable "Mom," "Pop" and "One" shirts.. in which all the Os were donuts... so cute!)

Me & Janine <3

Sadie with her party favors... (Which says, "Thanks a HOLE bunch!")

After Kennedy's party, we rounded up the whole crew (sans Meghan who went to Repticon Saturday morning... more on that in a second) to Miss Vera's Sweet 16th birthday bar-b-que!

(interchangable boys in pics, haha)

Culinary chaos.

There were no candles to be found, so we stuck one lighter in the cake and held a few others around while singing Happy Birthday. Making due with what we got!

Not pictured - Vera and her friends hurling cake & icing at each other post-birthday song. ;P

The whole night was filled with ping pong (notice the boys with a paddle in one hand, drink in the other...), Just Dance video games, hula-hooping... no wonder I passed out on the couch at 10 o'clock. ;P

Fur-baby lovins... :D

We even got to Skype with Ashlee from Europe!

We just love this girl.

The next day, I went to have a birthday lunch with Tristan + friends! He actually had a party on Saturday as well, but... that obviously wasn't going to happen. Thank goodness he was flexible with me. ;P

We went to Goodfriend, which is an adorable spot with delicious food.

You can even bring your doggies on the patio! So Norman had to join us, of course. He was impossible to photograph (what a brat ;)).

After lunch, we hopped across the street to a little cafe for some tea and coffee... and Shaleah trying on baseball hats under her helmet (important to know if it fits, duh!).

Meghan at Repticon in Houston. We were sad to miss her amoungst our partying, but at least she had a swell time!

Would you believe that I got sick two days after this mayhem? I think it was my body's way of going "WOAH THERE." But that's a story neither glamorous or interesting, so let's just appreciate how blessed we are to be so busy with people we love in one single weekend. :)
