We got Emily tickets to see THE one and only Markiplier for her birthday, and it was a hoot! :)
The line to get in was a thousand miles long.
But then we finally made it!

And then she gave ME the greatest gift of all by... agreeing to leave before the show was 100% over, haha. She had to get to a friend's house to go to A-Con! :) :)
We managed to blind-side Emily this year! On Friday night, we made crab and risotto (her birthday request) and told her we'd take her shopping for presents over the weekend... but little did she know, we had a surprise party on Saturday planned for her! While Richard took the littles to Sadie's volleyball game, Meghan, Krystall, the boys and I got the house together. Mumsie, Elle, Cindy and Darrah even showed up! Emily was genuinely surprised - clutching her chest and breathing deeply, haha (and I didn't get it on video, oh well! There's a "big video" on my hard-drive, tho!) But it was a really fun little afternoon!
Meghan got together a Five Night's at Freddy's theme, which was perfect!
I have no idea what Emily was doing when we told her Aunt D was leaving, but she came out of her room with this grey shiz on saying, "I am a grey-sexual now!" So there ya go - a picture of Aunt D and the grey-sexual. ;)
I came down with some unknown nightmare sickness this week (extreme exhaustion! daggers in my throat!) that turns out wasn't strep and wasn't mono but was really obnoxious! The only reason I bring this up is because I sat on my couch all day on Saturday trying to rest and in doing so I finally got up-to-date on cleaning out my iPhone pictures, organizing my personal Gmail and... getting up to date on blogging! WHAT A RELIEF. :D So, here's a peak into what was happening this past week...
We went to mom's last Saturday to help get her TV situation wrapped up, and Meggie came with us! (And I got this rad #TBT from her bathroom, haha) It took forever, but I was really glad mommy and Meggie could spend time together, and we went to Don Jose's afterwards, which is always bomb! When we got back home, Richard and I went to see "Get Out" which was amazing! On Sunday, R started brewing beer (get ready, world!) and I spent time by myself out at the mall (MISSING TONYA). It was overall a really nice weekend, and I just feel like documenting it, so there!

R3 started emailing us from school recently, and it's kind of the greatest thing that's happened to me. HE'S SUCH A SWEET BOY. (The last email was sent to me on Friday when I went to work even though I felt like traaash ðŸ˜)
Meggie's last day of Toni & Guy was this week! I can't believe it! Now she has to take her licensing exam, but she's DONE. WITH. SCHOOL. Hoorayyy!
The actual "last day" we had the girls over for dinner and got her a cake to celebrate as a family. YAY, MEGGIE.
Then on Friday, went took who was here to Whiskey Cake, and it was so nice! (I still felt like death, but everyone else seemed to have a great time, haha!)
Meghan even had her first "out of school" client Thursday evening, as Mary was dying for a haircut. She's doing it! :D
And, I was just feeling really cute this week. Before I got sick. 💅
Despite me being sick, having car trouble, and needing to cancel plans with friends due to being sick and having car trouble, I gotta say, it was a great week. :)
I just had to do a little bit about Emily lately. She is so adorable! Going through an epic awkward phase, killing it at puns (her and her siblings' latest obsession), drawing & Instagramming like crazy, refusing to wear anything that isn't sweatpants, and sharing a ton of YouTube videos with her dad. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH, BB.

For the first time ever, we didn't have Emily on her birthday this year! It was so strange! Fortunately, we were able to see her on the actual day thanks to Sadie's volleyball game. So what did we do? Surprise her with prezzies, flowers, a cupcake & candle and an embarrassing public rendition of "Happy Birthday" (as Sadie's volleyball team joined in and Emily repeatedly saying, "No!" hahahaha)!
Emily has turned into such a teenager this past year. She's goofy and vicious and introverted and social. Spotty academic record! Aversion to all clothes non-sweat pants! Friends out the wazoo! She's cool as hell and developing killer taste in music. She's so damn funny in a group but I love spending time with her alone because she really opens up when you just sit and listen. She loves sitting on the top bunk in her room in her own little computer-game world and has the best hair that she can't be bothered to brush. She's always willing to split a veggie smoothie with me and snip at her siblings for basic sounds & movements. ;P Basically, she's so freaking dope and trying to figure it all out, and we can't ask for much more than that.
For Emily's birthday date this year, we went to see Alice Through The Looking Glass at Alamo Drafthouse, and it was a pure right of passage for me as a step-mom. "Don't care to see this movie AT ALL but Emily asked and I want Emily to have fun and just want to be with her!" We ordered sammies and shakes and chatted alot and at least the movie was super easy to follow! ;P I took this picture of her afterwards, and she did her typical "I'm just going to stand there and let this happen" pose - thankfully I've figured that if I say "LOOK LIKE YOU'RE HAVING FUN" really aggressively, she snaps to a face that doesn't look like she's been kidnapped. ;) She later asked me what my favorite part of the movie was, and I tried SO HARD to think of a part (didn't care one bit!) and I finally thought this morning, "You! You were my favorite part!" :D
