it's been a good week :)

I came down with some unknown nightmare sickness this week (extreme exhaustion! daggers in my throat!) that turns out wasn't strep and wasn't mono but was really obnoxious! The only reason I bring this up is because I sat on my couch all day on Saturday trying to rest and in doing so I finally got up-to-date on cleaning out my iPhone pictures, organizing my personal Gmail and... getting up to date on blogging! WHAT A RELIEF. :D So, here's a peak into what was happening this past week...

We went to mom's last Saturday to help get her TV situation wrapped up, and Meggie came with us! (And I got this rad #TBT from her bathroom, haha) It took forever, but I was really glad mommy and Meggie could spend time together, and we went to Don Jose's afterwards, which is always bomb! When we got back home, Richard and I went to see "Get Out" which was amazing! On Sunday, R started brewing beer (get ready, world!) and I spent time by myself out at the mall (MISSING TONYA). It was overall a really nice weekend, and I just feel like documenting it, so there!

R3 started emailing us from school recently, and it's kind of the greatest thing that's happened to me. HE'S SUCH A SWEET BOY. (The last email was sent to me on Friday when I went to work even though I felt like traaash 😭)

Meggie's last day of Toni & Guy was this week! I can't believe it! Now she has to take her licensing exam, but she's DONE. WITH. SCHOOL. Hoorayyy!

The actual "last day" we had the girls over for dinner and got her a cake to celebrate as a family. YAY, MEGGIE.

Then on Friday, went took who was here to Whiskey Cake, and it was so nice! (I still felt like death, but everyone else seemed to have a great time, haha!)

Meghan even had her first "out of school" client Thursday evening, as Mary was dying for a haircut. She's doing it! :D

And, I was just feeling really cute this week. Before I got sick. 💅

Despite me being sick, having car trouble, and needing to cancel plans with friends due to being sick and having car trouble, I gotta say, it was a great week. :)

toni & guy photographic awards!

A few months ago, Meggie asked Richard to be a model for T&G's annual Photographic Awards competition (meaning just getting pretty for a stylist, who cuts/styles your hair in an editorial way). It would give Meg some street cred at school (who modeled herself!) and just take a few hours after work, so why not?

He looks ready to lead a revolution, haha.

WELL, no time later we found out that R's photo was selected as a FINALIST in in the national competition. BFD! His stylist, Richie, got alot of prestige with the nomination and Richard's photo made the annual Look Book (which we still need to buy!). The awards ceremony was in Dallas, and while Meghan and Richard were already planning on going together, the "finalist" variable made it so exciting and fun.

AND LO AND BEHOLD, HIS PICTURE WON. Won! Of all things we didn't expect to happen when Richard went in to model one random weekday was for his picture to ultimately win this prestigious national prize! It's such a fun note on 2016. :)

meghan's 19th birthday!

We had such a lovely evening with family celebrating Meghan's birthday this year. Mema and Beverly came over, in addition to the usual crew! There was Richard's homemade smoked brisket (the theater of it all!), potato salad, corn, cornbread and a cake a la Tonya! The littles were all at their mom's house this weekend, which is always hard when you're trying to wrangle everyone's schedules, but that's why we take pictures and video so we can all share. :)

BIG EMBARRASSING PARAGRAPH: We are SO PROUD of Meghan and the young lady she is turning into. She's a complete rockstar at beauty school and being the best older sister her siblings could ask for. She loves her family and friends more than anything and gets so frustrated when her theatrical displays of affections (gifts! parties! hair care!) aren't perfectly executed, lol. She's just one clean room and a salad short of being 110% perfect, and that's pretty much every parent and step-parent's dream. We love you, Meggie!
