(A spooky little coincidence with out backyard cafe lights!)
Another Halloween has come and gone, and officially we feel like we're in the holiday season! This was our second year having our family together for the big day, and we won't technically have the littles during Halloween day until 2018! (When Emily is 15, R3 14 and Sadie 12 - yeah, I'm sure they'll want to go around the neighborhood asking for candy with their parents! Maybe Sadie.). So I'm particularly grateful for these memories and pictures with our little dumplings, no matter how obnoxious the "costume prep" is (these guys are specific!).
This year, we met up with Debbie, Aaron and Matthew in Nick's neighborhood in Garland for the trick or treating, while Meghan abandoned us to do her teenager stuff at Screams. ;) (After dolling the littles up, of course!)
Sadie (a "zombie candy striper"), Richard III (a dementor - with a better mask!), and Emily (Mangle, from
Five Nights at Freddy's - I have no idea! ;P)
Meghan is (a zombie version of?)
Ben Drowned, from Creepy Pasta (It was really important to me that I get this right, so I had Emily tell me exactly what words to use because I have no idea what any of this means! #mom).
With Nick (
Eyeless Jack) and Krystal (
Scarecrow) - again, big thanks to Emily to helping me out with this. ;P
Marie Antoinette and Cake! ("Let them eat cake" - right? Right?!) I had this costume from a few years back, which helped us go simple this year (thank goodness, because it was muggy as hell while trick-or-treating! So much for glam! ;P).
<3
Matthew, a stick figure! (He had on a black body suite and strategically-taped glow sticks on his person.) This was so hilarious. The littles were calling him Steve, and Sadie was helping him walk around (because taping glow-sticks to your leg and face don't help make you independently mobile - and Sadie is such a natural caregiver ;P).
The neighborhood in Garland wasn't overwhelming, so we came back to Richardson not after long. Of course Emily and Sadie, ever their eyes on the prize!, asked if we could walk around our neighborhood to a few more houses. Richard III and Matthew stayed at home to play video games, while we walked around - with Debbie and Aaron! This turned out to be a GREAT call because you get so much candy when you're the last trick-or-treators of the night! People were literally shoveling candy into their bags and they were shutting down houses (or porch lights, same thing!). It was kind of hilarious!
Sadie, just holding onto Aaron's hand like it's completely natural. :)
I love dem!
After our second round of walking for candy, Debbie, Aaron and Matthew headed off (let's be real - they didn't even have to come over to our house and walk around Richardson WITHOUT their kid - big props to hanging out with us!) and we threw the kids in the shower. Another successful Halloween!
